Scientific medicine is an international discipline whose borders transcend
national boundaries. In 1997 I had the pleasure of conducting a lecture
tour of New Zealand during which Dr David Lovell-Smith introduced me to
medical leaders and professional groups throughout the country. Dr Lovell-Smith
has for thirty years been in the vanguard of an international community
of doctors that has discovered the practical wisdom of the Vedic system
of health as brought to light by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This cadre of
health professionals includes members from all sectors of the medical
work-force. My own work as clinical practitioner and research pathologist
led me to study the Vedic herbal preparations for their anti-oxidant and
other important effects. This, and the work of my colleagues around the
world, provides strong evidence that Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health
is invaluable in addressing the risk factors for heart disease, including
hypertension. A glance at the medical literature shows that hypertension
is topical. Heart disease is our number one killer, and the medical profession
is desperate for answers. The techniques of Maharishi's Vedic Approach
to Health have been shown to be effective. They cannot be ignored.
Dr Lovell-Smith's thoughtful analysis of the complex field of hypertension
is a major contribution that comes out of his long experience at the coal-face
of medicine. As a community doctor he is dealing with people, their feelings,
their relationships, their lives. He sees the devastating effects that
a stroke or heart attack has on a patient, the patient's family and his
community. He sees first-hand the troubling, sometimes dangerous effects
of drugs. The marked improvements in health and vitality that can follow
use of the techniques from Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health are a
daily inspiration for him.
You may have normal blood pressure, but is it perfect? Are you at risk?
We should all read this important, very timely book.
